Moody Foundation Awards Grant Benefiting Santa Fe High School Victims, Families and Local First Responders

$250,000 Grant to Improve Security and Safety Measures

GALVESTON, Texas (July 31, 2018) – In response to the May 18 shooting tragedy at Santa Fe High School, the Moody Foundation has granted $250,000 to provide financial support to victims and their families, augment Santa Fe ISD security measures to make classrooms a safer place and purchase updated equipment for Galveston County first responders.

The Foundation is also working closely with the Santa Fe Texas Education Foundation, which is a nonprofit organization that supports Santa Fe ISD students. The Santa Fe Texas Education Foundation has partnered with the National Compassion Fund, which offers free assistance to communities across the nation dealing with similar circumstances, to efficiently distribute funds directly to victims and their families.

“Our hearts go out to the victims and families of this tragedy,” said Ross R. Moody, trustee of the Moody Foundation and CEO of National Western Life Group. “We stand with them and are working hand-in-hand with other community partners to provide some relief and assistance in the aftermath of this terrible event. No amount of money can completely heal any pain endured by the victims and their family members. Our donation, along with so many others, can hopefully ease some of that burden.”

The Moody Foundation encourages anyone interested to donate to the Santa Fe Texas Education Foundation and the National Compassion Fund.
