MOODY FOUNDATION COMMITS $250K TO GALVESTON COUNTY COVID-19 RELIEF

Funds to be distributed through the Foundation’s local partners

GALVESTON, Texas – March 19, 2020 – The Moody Foundation announced today it has made an initial $250,000 commitment in COVID-19 relief funds to support Galveston County.

“The Moody Foundation stands with Galveston County as we navigate the COVID-19 crisis,” said Frances Moody-Dahlberg, chairman and executive director of the Moody Foundation. “This community is family to us, so its safety and well-being are our top priorities.”

“Galveston is the Moody Foundation’s home,” said Ross Moody, trustee of the Moody Foundation. “We’ve weathered crises before, and the Foundation is here to help overcome this together, getting back stronger and better than before.”

Initial funds have been authorized to help these local partners serve those most in need:

-Catholic Charities

-CHRISTUS Our Daily Bread

-Galveston County Food Bank

-Vincent’s House

-United Way of Galveston

“We knew we had to do whatever we could to help our local community get back on its feet,” said Elizabeth Moody, trustee of the Foundation. “We’re hoping this gift will provide a helping hand for our friends during this difficult time.”

Representatives from the Foundation are reaching out to the local nonprofits to help deploy funds in the most effective way possible.
